10.10 – 31.12.2017  Budapest Christmas Market in November

The Christmas Market in Budapest, which has become a big hit amongst the European Christmas markets is the most centrally located and most traditional Xmas fair.

The market is often listed on major traveller’s sites and magazines as one of the Top 10 Christmas Markets in Europe.

Indeed, the market is a must see if you visit Budapest after mid November, when the biggest central Xmas Fair opens.

It opens in mid November each year and is called the Vorosmarty square Christmas Market.

The recently launched Basilica Christmas Market usually opens in late November (on Nov 24 in 2017) or at the beginning of December (the newer one on St Stephen’s Square, right in front of the tall building of the Basilica – you cannot miss it, as the church tower gives perfect orientation on the flat Pest side). One of the best things to do in Budapest from mid November.

25-26.11.2017.  New Wine & Cheese Festival Budapest

Vajdahunyad Castle will be the home of the New Wine and Cheese Festival in Budapest, at the end of November.

Taste the new wines of the various wine regions in Hungary in this beautiful romantic castle in the City Park on almost a shoestring budget. You can meet Hungarian wine producers and even the knights of the Hungarian Wine Order.

19.11.2017.  WAMP Design & Gastro Fair

The popular market is showcasing the work of Hungarian designers as well as artisan gastro products kicks off the Advent season in Millenáris located in Buda (take tram 6 or M2 metro to Széna tér). A great place to get some one-of-a-kind presents, handcrafted ornaments, accessories or toys for the kids.

Location: Millenáris, “B” Hall, Kis Rókus utca 16-20, district II., Buda, behind the Mammut Shopping Centre

Entry: 1 000 HUF (500 HUF can be used to buy products on WAMP fairs till 31. March 2018.)

27.11 – 23.12.2017.  Flavors of Hungary Gastro Fair

The ‘Flavors of Hungary’ Gastro Fair (Kézműves Magyar Ízek Vására) is a semi-annual gastro event presenting homegrown Hungarian products. In 2015, the Christmas-edition is held between Nov 27 and Dec 23.

Visitors can sample homemade specialties from more than 150 vendors from around Hungary. What makes this event special is that all products are made by select Hungarian vendors. There will be a cooking show featuring traditional Hungarian recipes and visitors can get to know the vendors and producers and even vote for their favorites. Bring your kids, as this is a family event. A kid’s corner, arts and crafts workshops and other programs will keep the little ones entertained.

This gastro fair at Erzsébet tér, is guaranteed to offer something for everyone. Homemade cheese, ham, sausage, jam, honey, dried fruits, chocolate, wine and pálinka are just some of the delicacies awaiting visitors.
